Brachydactyly is a congenital malformation in which insufficient development of phalanxes, metacarpal, or metatarsal bones leads to disproportionate shortening of fingers or toes with respect to hand or feet size. It can occur in isolation or as part of a syndrome, and different types exist according to the bones affected.
