The vast majority of non-medullary thyroid carcinomas develop sporadically. However, a small percentage of cases present familial aggregation. The association of non-medullary thyroid carcinoma with different entities of genetic aetiology has been confirmed. If a predisposition syndrome to non-medullary thyroid cancer is suspected, the following gene panel is recommended.
